What Makes This Globetrotter Tick?

With a new year upon me, I have decided to venture out into unfamiliar territory and join the ever growing blogosphere. Some of you might be thinking, "My parents, grandparents, and even my cat are already bloggers! What took you so long?" The answer is simple. It took me a while to find something I would actually like to think about and share with the world. And if there is one topic that I literally dream about more than anything, it is gallivanting around this world with a thirst for learning and new experiences.

By the time I was 21 I had visited four different continents, seen most of the lower 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii, and had lived abroad in Italy for over 2 years. There is nothing quite like traveling to a world you have only seen in pictures and travelogues, and smelling the aromas in the air, touching the walls of their buildings, and experiencing the richness of their people and culture. Nothing, and I mean nothing broadens your horizons like a trip into the unknown and alien.

I am writing this blog, so that I can transmit my passion for travel in a way that others can use in their own travels. Each blog post will be my take on a place that I have either traveled to or would like to travel to. The post will consist of a few common parts:

1. Destination
2. Theme for the trip
3. Research - This will explain the cultural, historical, and other motivations for visiting this destination.
4. Proposed Trip Itinerary

So here I am writing about my favorite pastime, in the hope that my thoughts, plans, and research will pique the interest of you, the casual reader, and start you down a path of true global discovery.

I hope you enjoy the ride. Now let's get jazzed about seeing the world.
